In our infants room, we provide a nurturing, supportive and caring ‘home away from home’ environment. We strongly believe in forming extremely important reciprocal relationships, that are based on trust, between the tamariki and kaiako. This is to ensure that children feel safe and secure in their own space, as they begin to explore and discover the world around them. We respect that parents are the first teachers, so we want to work closely alongside you, to ensure your child gets the best out of their day. We are influenced by the RIE (Resources Infant Educarers) philosophy, where the uniqueness of each infant and toddler, is respected and allowed to develop and learn at their own natural pace. Their play is learning and they are seen as capable and confident learners and explorers.
We encourage a minimum of 3 settling visits, approximately 2 weeks before your child’s start date to ensure a smooth and settled transition for both you and your child. Transition visits give tamariki the opportunity to begin building a safe and secure relationship with the key teacher and child. It also allows you/whānau to ask questions and feel confident in your decision of entrusting our highly skilled team with your precious taonga/treasure.
Meals are age appropriate to provide those first tastes and textures. Giving bottles are special care times, where we take this time to nurture, sing, hold and support the infants to create a feeling of warmth, connection and aroha.
For children aged 3-12 months, we provide you with a communication journal so our teachers in the Nursery can keep you updated with daily information about your childs day. We also use Storypark to share photos, videos and audio of your child’s development so you never miss out on those treasured milestones.
